Lester's Dreadful Sweaters by K.G. Campbell

Lester's Aunt Clara moves in with him and his family.  Aunt Clara is a "curiously speedy knitter" and keeps knitting sweaters for Lester- each one more dreadful and crazy than the last.  Lester hates the sweaters and they keep "magically" getting shredded by a lawn mower or they shrink in the wash.  A little girl at school makes jokes at his expense and his teacher never compliments him on his impeccable style- which he always did before.  Then Lester shows up to a party in yet another of Aunt Clara's sweaters.  However, there are clowns there and they LOVE the sweaters.  In fact they ask Aunt Clara for all of the extra sweaters she has made (because she is a curiously speedy knitter, you see) and there is a happy ending.

I think it is a cute story, but I do have one complaint.  The reason Clara moves in with Lester and his family is because there is a crocodile at her house.  The only other time the crocodile is mentioned is when Aunt Clara asks the clowns if they need a crocodile in their act and they say no.  This is completely unnecessary story and doesn't mix well with the sweater story.  It feels disjointed and it should have been left out.

Overall, though I think it is a cute story.  There are a few good vocab words included as well, for example "ghastly", "inspired", and "troupe."
