Forget Me Not: Friendship Blossoms by Michael Brood

Cute story of a young elephant named Forget-Me-Not and his singular quest for a friend.  The animals he runs into reject him but his mother is there for him.  She tells him that friendship takes time to blossom.  It does not happen overnight.  So he waits and takes his time and it pays off: Forget-Me-Not makes friends with a giraffe named Cherry.  The lesson is that the best friendships, true friendship, takes time to develop.  I think this would be a great story for children who have just moved to new schools.  I really love the artwork, as well.  If your child really likes Forget-Me-Not, the adorable elephant is featured in other books by Michael Brood.
